I do have a Windows 98 computer working without the monitor turned on, very often. I would like to be able to shut down the system with a single power button push, but there are network shutdown procedures in the way. Every time there is a network connection active, the shutdown stops asking if I do want to shutdown system, because there is a network connection active (I can not put the exact message here, since I'm using a polish language Windows version).

Is there a way to get rid of these nagging dialogs?

It should be possible to make an AutoIt script closing the dialogs automaticaly, but perhaps there is a simpler way.

See if the info that Currports give (under 9x/Me it is limited) is enough to get to kill the process that is keeping the connection open :

That's not what I had in mind. I'm shutting down the server. The connection is maintained by a remote computer.

This particular case is about shutting down Microsoft Networking server. Other computers are connecting to it from time to time. Quite often a connection is still active, when I'm shutting down the server. There are no files open, but the Windows still nags about some connections being active. It is not possible to kill a process responsible for Microsoft Networking services, I believe.

Only partialy true. I'm using TCP/IP along with NetBEUI. Ipconfig will not affect NetBEUI protocol.

Another problem is to run Ipconfig with power button.
