karthikaravind Posted April 22, 2011 Posted April 22, 2011 Dear Friends,I would like to know how to create a recovery partition.I have a Dell Laptop and there is a recovery partition - using this at any point I can revert back to Factory defaults.Suppose I delete the recovery partition (I mean format my entire hard drive ) Is there a way to create the recovery partition again ?I have Dell supplied Windows CD with me.Also I could see Factory.wim (6.98 GB) ,Base.wim (6.98 GB) and few other files in the recovery partition. So with these resources available Can I create a recovery partition If I delete the recovery partitionWhen I asked Dell Technical Support Executive the person said that it is not possible because some information regarding the recovery partition will be written to the boot record. Can Some one help me on this ?
grabben Posted April 22, 2011 Posted April 22, 2011 Perhaps your recoverydvd can but Im not sure.otherwise you can follow this: http://en.kioskea.net/faq/4093-windows-7-create-a-recovery-partition
jaclaz Posted April 22, 2011 Posted April 22, 2011 DELL's Recovery partitions (there are several "kinds" of them):http://www.goodells.net/dellutility/http://www.goodells.net/dellrestore/I presume that the 7 based one is similar to the Vista one:http://www.goodells.net/dellrestore/vista/http://www.goodells.net/dellrestore/vista/vistarecovery.shtmlbut cannot say. If this is the case it is a "normal" 7 recovery partition as per above post by grabben jaclaz
