hv adobe Photoshop 4.0.1 need to upgrade to?

I have an old Adobe 4.0.1 and it won't load up quite frequently. I've lost track of the disk. I am on Win XP. What is the cheapest / older version of Photoshop I should buy? I don't understand what are adobe elements - are they the same as Adobe photoshop itself or? Would appreciate advice tremendously. Thanks - T

The cheapest I can think of would be Adobe Photoshop 5.0 LE. The LE version was usually an add-in product with scanners and cameras. LE is Lite-Edition, which means it doesn't have as much stuff as the regular version. Photoshop Elements is the newer name of Photoshop LE.
