Hi:

I am integrating a new updated XP PRO SP3 (32-bit) CD. I integrated the latest OnePiece AIO, and then used RVMI to remove

unwanted programs (thanks to a removal .ini file from Kelisellivarian (sorry for butchering your name), mt screen reader botched it up (the WPI Guru).

I removed:

BitLToGo

MSSlight

WDSearch

WinMFC

I am at 793MB, but need to reduce further so the disc can be used in a normal CD r/w drive.

using nLite, what can I safely remove so I can still use Windows Update and Office Update, etc?

Much thanks in advance,

Remove these folders and files

All source folders EXCEPT I386

These folders in the I386 folder:

Lang

WIN9XMIG

WIN9XUPG

SO:

At the root you have these files:

AUTORUN.INF

SETUP.EXE

win51

win51ip

win51ip.SP3

and I386 Folder

If you are not using the CD to upgrade your Windows, you can remove "Manual Install and Upgrade"; removes about 40MB. Also, if you are integrating your own drivers, you can remove the old video drivers from the CD.

Sorry, Kelsenellenelvian for botching up your name!

Just to make sure I am on the right page here, I AM removing:

Lang

WIN9XMIG

WIN9XUPG

When I checked in nLite, and wanted to remove the language codec files it showed a message below saying that the language files are needed for Office Updae!

If I remove them, and the non-english keyboard support as well will I have problems with Office update?

Much thanks,

I am talking manually removing those folders prior to nlite.

When you use nLite to remove languages it removes several other core lang files not just the lang folder.

I haven't had a lang folder in an XP disk for over 6 years.

From an earlier post with some testing done... (and the msfn ua guide)

Fancy freeing up approximately 185 MB of space by deleting un-needed folders?

Folders considered safe to delete in your Windows Setup Source are:

DOCS, VALUEADD, and SUPPORT. This will free up 22.3 MB or so.

Let's go in further by navigating to the I386 directory with your Windows Setup Source. If you don't plan to use this CD to upgrade from a previous OS, you can delete the following folders:

WIN9XMIG, WIN9XUPG and WINNTUPG. This will free up 37.6 MB

If you have a localized language version of Windows in your own language, then you can also delete:

LANG. This will free up approximately 99 MB (This may vary)

As of Windows XP SP2, an extra folder known as cmpnents is added, with Tablet PC and .NET Framework 1.0 components which is also considered safe to delete cmpnents. This will free up 25.2 MB

My Bare sp3 disk size without updates? = 376 megs!

After onepiece?

585megs
