Kelsenellenelvian Posted April 12, 2011 Posted April 12, 2011 Remove these folders and filesAll source folders EXCEPT I386These folders in the I386 folder:LangWIN9XMIGWIN9XUPGSO:At the root you have these files:AUTORUN.INFSETUP.EXEwin51win51ipwin51ip.SP3and I386 Folder
Kelsenellenelvian Posted April 12, 2011 Posted April 12, 2011 My "cleaned up" SP3 Source is 376 megs...
Sp0iLedBrAt Posted April 12, 2011 Posted April 12, 2011 (edited) If you are not using the CD to upgrade your Windows, you can remove "Manual Install and Upgrade"; removes about 40MB. Also, if you are integrating your own drivers, you can remove the old video drivers from the CD. Edited April 12, 2011 by Sp0iLedBrAt

If I remove them, and the non-english keyboard support as well will I have problems with Office update?Much thanks,hag672 Edited April 12, 2011 by hag672
Kelsenellenelvian Posted April 13, 2011 Posted April 13, 2011 (edited) I am talking manually removing those folders prior to nlite. When you use nLite to remove languages it removes several other core lang files not just the lang folder.I haven't had a lang folder in an XP disk for over 6 years. From an earlier post with some testing done... (and the msfn ua guide)Fancy freeing up approximately 185 MB of space by deleting un-needed folders?Folders considered safe to delete in your Windows Setup Source are:DOCS, VALUEADD, and SUPPORT. This will free up 22.3 MB or so. Let's go in further by navigating to the I386 directory with your Windows Setup Source. If you don't plan to use this CD to upgrade from a previous OS, you can delete the following folders:WIN9XMIG, WIN9XUPG and WINNTUPG. This will free up 37.6 MBIf you have a localized language version of Windows in your own language, then you can also delete:LANG. This will free up approximately 99 MB (This may vary)As of Windows XP SP2, an extra folder known as cmpnents is added, with Tablet PC and .NET Framework 1.0 components which is also considered safe to delete cmpnents. This will free up 25.2 MBMy Bare sp3 disk size without updates? = 376 megs! After onepiece?585megs Edited April 13, 2011 by Kelsenellenelvian
