Mobes Posted March 11, 2011 Posted March 11, 2011 Please bear with me as I'm new to this forum. I believe I'm posting in the right forum...I just recently began using Nlite to create an XP cd. I had minimal problems until Nlite began installing patches and updates since SP3. I had a few fail. I had also included the latest Java update, Office 2003 updates and WMP11 all of which failed. I believe after further investigation those items need to be included in a different manner.I did go ahead and build the ISO regardless of the errors believing that it would not impact the install. I am using Virtual Box to test. When I attempted to install XP on the VM, it appeared to go through the normal process of formatting the disk, copying the files and then downloading. When finished it attempted to restart Windows. At this point, I expected to go to the Windows XP screen and eventually the Desktop. However, what happened was it seem the process looped back to copying the Windows files again and never did Start Windows. Now, I will tell you that I am running this VM on limited resources. I only have 512mb of ram on the Host and during the install process the process stopped due to the Host not having enough memory to allocate. I did adjust Settings on the machine to lower the ram below the 192mb recommended. Sorry for the LONG description. I would like to know of any specifics on avoiding the Patch install errors, installing WMP11 and Office 2003. Also, I wonder if XP was not starting due to the limitations of my resources?? I am excited about creating my own XP disk and look forward to learning more. Thanks in advance. Please let me know of any additional info needed.
Sp0iLedBrAt Posted March 11, 2011 Posted March 11, 2011 Welcome to MSFN.The right place to post is here http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showforum=89 , but at this point you could ask a moderator to move the post. WMP11 is integrated with this http://www.boooggy.org/slipstreamer/ (into the source BEFORE you run nLite)As for Java, please take a look at the Application Add-ons sub-forum http://www.msfn.org/board/forum/132-application-add-ons/ and search for a ready-made add-on. If you can't find one, you can install it silently through RunOnce. As for Office 2003, look at post #2 here When having problems with nLite, always attach the Last Session.ini file (found in C:\Program Files\nLite\Presets or the folder with the XP install you were modifying). Only attach Last Session_u.ini if required and after deleting sensitive information inside (product key, name, passwords...)Cheers
Mobes Posted March 11, 2011 Author Posted March 11, 2011 Thanks for the quick response! I'll ask the moderator move the topic and review your info. Again, thanks.
