filemask Posted February 21, 2011 Posted February 21, 2011 I installed some metacreations transitions, but it has a watermark. How to remove it?
Kelsenellenelvian Posted February 21, 2011 Posted February 21, 2011 Such a thing is actually against the rules of our forum. They are there for a reason.
filemask Posted February 22, 2011 Author Posted February 22, 2011 I just want help from someone who had ever used such transitions for directshow app. With more bear.
Tripredacus Posted February 22, 2011 Posted February 22, 2011 I am not able to locate who is the current owner of the Transitions product. This product first appeared as a demo/shareware in DirectX and IE 5.5. Just because we cannot find who owns that particular product now, doesn't mean that it is actually abandoneware or in the public domain. To err on the side of caution, we can only take the stance that brand removal on a product is illegal. Please read our forum rules. We don't have them to be mean.
filemask Posted February 23, 2011 Author Posted February 23, 2011 It is not an illegal product. See the following. These transitions were originally released as demo software by Metacreations and applied a watermark over the images/clips when the transitions were played. Removal of this watermark requires special codes to be supplied as a parameter in the xml file. The legality of this action is not clear. My attempts to request such permissions from Viewpoint (the descendant of Metacreations) have not been fruitful since they did not understand what software I required license for and told me that the Metacreations assets were sold away to different companies...
Tripredacus Posted February 23, 2011 Posted February 23, 2011 I am aware of that user's page. Also, ViewPoint doesn't seem to be the company those assets were sold to. Unless you can find where exactly those assets (Transitions) are held by, you cannot be certain that the product is indeed abandonware and in the public.
