colore Posted February 5, 2011 Posted February 5, 2011 helloin my Control Panel under Network Settings, I see these:why do I have 'two' connections there, while I just have plugged the ethernet cable?Local Area Connectionand1394 connection (it looks like a historic date lol) do i need both in order to be connected to internet?thanks
submix8c Posted February 5, 2011 Posted February 5, 2011 (edited) ? Wireless on a FireWire Bus? That's what 1394 is (FireWire)... Edited February 5, 2011 by submix8c
colore Posted February 5, 2011 Author Posted February 5, 2011 firewire is ethernet? if not, can I disable this connection, since I only have ethernet?thanks
allen2 Posted February 5, 2011 Posted February 5, 2011 It is just a connection to connect 2 PC over firewire (it works very well, i tried it a long time ago when gigabit ethernet network cards very too exepnsive and rare).
submix8c Posted February 5, 2011 Posted February 5, 2011 Thx, allen2! Explains why it appears as "ethernet"...@colore - You could disable it, but it'll still show in "Network Connections". Uninstalling it will just have it "reappear" after reboot unless there's some BIOS option to disable it before Windows Boot.
