two connections in control panel

Recommended Posts

in my Control Panel under Network Settings, I see these:

why do I have 'two' connections there, while I just have plugged the ethernet cable?

Local Area Connection

1394 connection (it looks like a historic date lol)

do i need both in order to be connected to internet?

Thx, allen2! Explains why it appears as "ethernet"...

@colore - You could disable it, but it'll still show in "Network Connections". Uninstalling it will just have it "reappear" after reboot unless there's some BIOS option to disable it before Windows Boot.
