Bradburger Posted November 29, 2010 Posted November 29, 2010 I've just downloaded the latest version of nLite and have (or at least think!) followed all the right steps to create a new, slipstreamed XP disc with SP3 and an unattended install. However, I don't appear to be able to create an iso file which I thought nLite did for me!I've got Roxio Creator DE which can burn an ISO image to disc but just need to find out how to create one!Am I being stupid and missing something obvious?Btw, am I right in thinking that from XP SP2 onwards, SATA drivers were included so there is no need to press F6 and get them off a floppy (or slipstream them) during install?CheersPaul
Sp0iLedBrAt Posted November 29, 2010 Posted November 29, 2010 Welcome to MSFN.1. To create an ISO, see pic #39 in this picture guide http://win-x.co.cc/nliteimages.html; you have to click Make ISO before you click Next to finish with nLite.2. am I right in thinking that from XP SP2 onwards, SATA drivers were included so there is no need to press F6 and get them off a floppy (or slipstream them) during install?I'm afraid you'll have to slipstream the SATA drivers suitable for your PC. The good thing is you won't have to press F6; you just have to integrate it through the Drivers section in nLite in TXT mode.Cheers

Stupid of me to miss something so obvious. Teach me not to rush things in the future! And thanks for the tip on the SATA drivers too. Oh, is it ok to save the ISO file (seems logical) in the same folder as the XP slipstreamed folder or is it best to save it elsewhere?CheersPaul Edited November 29, 2010 by Bradburger
Sp0iLedBrAt Posted November 29, 2010 Posted November 29, 2010 This is what you do now:Open nLite and from the Task selection (visible in pic #5 in the same pic guide) choose only Bootable ISO. Create it anywhere you want, as long as there is enough free space.Cheers
Ponch Posted December 1, 2010 Posted December 1, 2010 is it ok to save the ISO file (seems logical) in the same folder as the XP slipstreamed folder or is it best to save it elsewhere? All the directory goes into the ISO, so if the ISO itself goes in the directory, you have a big problem. Save it elsewhere. Plus, there were reports of crash due to exotic iso names.
