vilrockerdefer
Hello,My name is Fred, I am 32 and computer enthousiast. I recently customized a Windows MCE 2005 with Nlite and integrated Nvidia AHCI drivers in it.Upon installing, I came across error message "setup cannot copy the file: wbcache.deu"I ignored it by pressing Esc and had the same messages for a dozen of other languages : wbcache.fra, etc.I ignored them all and the installation went on.Is it normal ? Can I have a problem in Windows without these files ?Thanks for any help.Fred Edited August 4, 2010 by vilrockerdefer
iamtheky
should be fine removing all the various language action, just might need to take the references out of your txtsetup.sif and dosnet.inf files so you dont throw the errors during install. You should not need to modify any files after running nLite. I suspect you have run nLite more than once against the same source. Please attach your Last Session.ini as requested by the BOLD RED letters above. As I remember, XP MCE has more than one CD. Did you copy all to your working folder? Enjoy, John. vilrockerdefer
I didn't apply Nlite twice.Sorry, I cannot find any session.ini file or "last session.ini" There were two cd's but I figured I only had to provide for one i386 folder path so I selected the MCE CD instead of the PRO CD.Apart from that I now have the problem that when I try to start Windows firewall I get "Error 1075: the dependency service does not exist or has been marked for deletion". vilrockerdefer
I think I am willing to start from scratch. But how does it work ?Do I have to apply winlite to media center cd 1 and then to cd 2 using the same options ?

We really need to see it before you try again. I am not familiar with MCE, but remember people talking about multiple CDs. Please do some searching here to find a thread. I would think you will need more than one. You definitely do not run nLite against each of the CDs. Somehow you must copy both CDs to your source folder. This problem has been solved - please search. Enjoy, John.
vilrockerdefer
I am currently searching. Here is my last session. I read somewhere that nlite would "ask for cd2" if I just applied my last session settings to CD1 (pro) but nlite never asked for cd2.Last Session (2010.08.04-02.55.08).ini

If there is more than one Last Session, that means you have run nLite more than once against the same source. Please look at this thread on MCE. Found this through Google - MSFN search is not very good. Perhaps it is just the Components folder that needs to be copied. I also remember that some versions of MCE can take only some version of Service Pack. Please make sure your are adding the correct SP. Did you place all the Network adapters there? They really do no good unless you have the MAC address that goes with the adapter. Please see the help text on the Network setting tab of the Unattended Task. Enjoy, John. vilrockerdefer
Following instructions in the thread you suggested I managed to achieve a globally working install : I merged CD1 and CD2 in the same folderI applied Nlite and juste before ISO creation modified winnt.sif and the other .sifI added the ID tag for CD2 at rootThanks for your help. It is just too bad that these steps aren't situated in an easily found place like Nlite faq on the Nlite webpage. It is problematic since Nlite claims support for MCE. According to me, support after tweaking is not support.Well anyway I am glad it turned out well. But now I have another problem : when I try to open the "add remove windows components" windows module I get error : "setup was unable to open information file setupqry.inf".Any help fixing that ? Thanks Edited August 7, 2010 by vilrockerdefer
vilrockerdefer
Ok seems I got this ok... I just downloaded the setupqry.inf then setupqry.dll, then got a third error message regarding games.inf and corrected that applying solution described in "setup was unable to open information file games.inf" thread of msfn.Nlite well at that stage is more complicated than I thought, I must confess. Ponch
Nlite claims support for MCE.I don't know where you've seen that but I'm sure that few years ago, it had no support for MCE. Then -maybe- things changed but also the development of nLite was stopped and nothing got updated (FAQs, known bugs list and such). MCE remained a bit of a grey area. But the forum helps and the program is still free.
vilrockerdefer
Indeed and I don't want to complain. I am just suggesting. When you launch latest version of Nlite, this first screen displays MCE support.
