It works great, in fact. There are some updates that do not integrate in nLite and that may be your problem. Since I run XP x64, I am not aware of specific XP updates. I also suggest you look at RyanVm Forum for an Update Pack in French - saves a lot of trouble and easy to use if there is one in French. It looks like you have done nothing but add updates. Is this true, or have you run nLite more than once against the same source? You should always start with a fresh copy of your CD files/folders and run nLite only once doing all you work in that one session. Please, in the future, attach (not paste) your Last Session as requested in the BOLD RED letters at the top. Enjoy, John.
Ponch Posted June 15, 2010 Posted June 15, 2010 I see you integrate updates for IE8 but IE8 itself is not integrated (or is it ?).Maybe you could have a look here.
Sp0iLedBrAt Posted June 15, 2010 Posted June 15, 2010 You should also take a look at this for the Windows Media updates, since I don't see you're integrating Windows Media Player 11. One more thing I'd suggest is you move the updates' folders to a folder closer to the root of the HDD, for e.g. C:\Updates.
Phenixer Posted June 16, 2010 Author Posted June 16, 2010 Thanks guys for the reply.I am using a SP2 copy that got modified to SP3 with nLite, and after this, I reopen nLite again to put updates. Maybe this is my problem and I should start from SP2.I'll look forward for MP11 and IE8.Sorry guys for the copy/paste, I was using quick reply and there were no "Attachments" section so...
Guest Posted June 16, 2010 Posted June 16, 2010 (edited) Slipstreaming SP3 ONLY and then running nLite again does not cause any problems. You need to look elsewhere.Take out WindowsMedia9-KB969878-x86-FRA.exe. It's not designed for a stock system.Almost missed this IE8-WindowsXP-x86-FRA.exe. The IE8 installer will not slipstream you need to make or find and add-on. Here's a tool that will make it for you...http://www.ryanvm.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=7622 Edited June 16, 2010 by -X-

But I don't think this is my problem since nLite see's it's not a working update and popup a message.I am using Deployment Toolkit from Microsoft to deploy my windows, can it interfere with nLite modified Windows? I ONLY slipstream updates and do not modify ANYTHING else with nLite.
johnhc Posted June 16, 2010 Posted June 16, 2010 Thanks for help. Please see the license agreement. Applying IE8 and MP11 updates to Windows that contains neither can cause many and strange symptoms. I have no experience with Deployment Toolkit, so can't tell you what effect it would have. In general, I recommend to do all their work with nLite and no other SW. Mixing various programs to process the source can definitely cause problems. NLite expects to see an unaltered copy of Windows to start. Deployment Toolkit may expect the same thing. Are you using WinPE? The more you tell us the better chance we have of figuring out what the problems are. BTW, you should get no errors running nLite or installing. If you do, then something is wrong and needs to be corrected. Enjoy, John.
Phenixer Posted June 16, 2010 Author Posted June 16, 2010 I am using Deployment Toolkit to install Windows from a USB KEY and to install my applications automatically.Deployment Toolkit uses PE to boot and install Windows afterward. The error was something about not being able to write on my deployment media (I think) at the first load of Windows after the installation. But the first time I added updates, it worked and at the fist load it was like if all services went off.I don't use any nLite Unattended settings so it should not interfere, but like I said, I can live without it, sometimes the problem is somewhere else we didn't expect. Thanks guys for all you help here.
