Hi Guys

I have been using nLite for years with no problems. Recently my PC got infected with a virus and I needed to reinstall my main workstation from scratch.

For some reason when I run nlite, I get a problem when 'Locating the windows installation'. It starts to pick it up and then crashed with the following error.

==================================================================

Microsoft .Net Framework

Unhandled exception has occurred in your application. If you click continue, the application will ignore this error and attempt to continue. If you click quit, the application will close immediately.

The process cannot access the file

'D:\folder\folder\root_of_dvd\usbport.sys' because it is being used by another process.

See the end of this message for details on invoking
just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box.

If I click quit then it just closes and if I click continue it just freezes. I have tried it on 2 machines with 2 different original XP discs.

Can anyone help please?

wizer, do you recognize the path 'D:\folder\folder\root_of_dvd\'? What security SW are you now running? Have you tried with the security SW turned off (when I try this, I unplug my modem). Are you running the latest version of nLite (1.4.9.1)? Enjoy, John.

Here's an idea: Download Unlocker (http://ccollomb.free.fr/unlocker/) and redo the procedure; if the same error reoccurs, open the folder, right-click usbport.sys and select Unlocker. That way you'll know which process is actually using the system file (which really shouldn't happen, unless it's the weird explorer.exe)

Thanks guys. I brought the files to work with me and have managed to get the image created here. But will try the unlocker app and disabling virus softwares, as having it working at home is important as I'll be making changes to the image for vmware purposes.
