I can get this to perform on IE.6, but it does nothing on Firefox version 2

I tried that test on two different win-98 machines connected to two different ISP's, using IE6 and FF 2.0.0.20.

Results: ISP 1:

IE6 / Firefox 2.0.0.20:

ping time: 32 ms +/- 1 ms

jitter: 12 ms +/- 1 ms

Results: ISP 2:

IE6:

ping time: 16 ms

jitter: 1 ms

Firefox:

ping time: 27 ms

jitter: 5 ms

I had to disconnect a few network devices to get the best ping times with ISP 2. I couldn't do that with ISP 1, so those times might be a bit better if I could.

Speedtest.net is a related website / service. My speedtest results using ISP 2:

IE6: Download: 5.12 mb/sec Upload: .69 mb/sec Ping: 15 ms

FF: Download: 5.15 mb/sec Upload: .67 mb/sec Ping: 51 ms

I tried the FF test several times and got the same results. DL speed was always a little higher with FF, and ping times were always 51 ms.

I wonder why it works on my I.E 6 but not on the same Firefox that you use 2.0.0.20

For the machine connected to ISP 2, flash version (as reported by http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/155/tn_15507.html) is WIN 10,0,12,36 (Debug Player = no) as reported by Firefox. But I see that when using IE6 on that same web-page, the version is reported as WIN 9,0,260,0.

The flash version for the machine connected to ISP 1 is almost certainly 9.something (not 10) but I don't know (right now) the exact version.

I don't think that would explain it. As Dencorso says, I have KernelEx (3.6) running on the machine connected to ISP 2, and for some reason a while ago when I got one of those "flash updates" upon startup it updated me to version 10 (but since then it hasn't updated me to any newer flash-10 versions). The machine connected to ISP 1 is not running KernelEx so it will have flash version 9 for both IE6 and Firefox 2.0.0.20. Bottom line is that Flash 10 is not necessary to run pingtest or speedtest under FF 2.0.0.20.
