b-man Posted March 19, 2010 Posted March 19, 2010 when i set the auto login feature it logs into the 'administrator' account instead of my user that i selected??also is there a file i can edit to change how long it auto logs in for eg. once, twice or infinity ? and even change the default username and product key to use the same edit for 2 different purposes. rather than having to redo the whole nlite process
Sp0iLedBrAt Posted March 19, 2010 Posted March 19, 2010 When the Users tab is in front of you, first thing you do is create a user, give it a name, set it to active and give it admin privileges. Then, in the same Users tab, move over to the right in the Autologin section. From the drop-down menu choose your user (the default is Administrator) and click the little box to autologin. Choose the number of times to autologin and enter your password below. That's all there is to it.As to saving changes, all you have to do is reload your Last Session.ini, the nLite process will be much shorter once everything is clicked, selected and tweaked.Enjoy
johnhc Posted March 19, 2010 Posted March 19, 2010 b-man, Auto Login is enabled in the winnt.sif file and the user accounts are set in nLite.inf (compressed into NLITE.IN_). Both of these files can be found in your I386 folder (or AMD64 if XP x64). If you need more help it is important to attach your Last Session.ini and in this case your Last Session_u.ini. Since the _u.ini file contains private information you will need to edit it and obscure the the key, account names, PWs, etc. I should point out that setting up Auto Login in an unattended install leaves your PW in clear text in your Registry. You will see this in the nLite.inf. Enjoy, John.
b-man Posted March 20, 2010 Author Posted March 20, 2010 all have been done off a clean fresh source and only been done once@Sp0iLedBrAti understand that and thats exactly what i do yet it still loads the administrator account, hence the problem (i unticked the 'active' on the admin account in this last session and then it wouldnt even auto login so its still wanting to do it to admin when i have selected my user from the drop down boxalso again i understand about using the last session stuff but adding all the hotfixes settings etc takes a fair while where if i manually edited a few lines from the nlite.inf and winnt.sif by the looks of it it would take a few minutes@johnhcheres the last sessions ini's (note the admin is unticked as active as i tried that with the auto login but still didnt work)LAST SESSION.INILAST SESSION_U.INI
johnhc Posted March 20, 2010 Posted March 20, 2010 b-man, thanks for the ini files. I am not sure what is going on here. Did you look at the nLite.inf for the Auto Login information? That file is full of private data, so please don't post it. I do have a couple of questions. I see you are installing WMP11. Do you have Boooggy's WMP11 Sliptreamer installed on your system? I also see you have updates for IE7, but I do not see that you have installed it. If not, may be a real problem. If you are willing to start over, try a run with nothing in your nLite Hot Fix section and see if Auto Login works OK. I use it as it looks like you want to and it works fine for me. It would also be interesting to see a screen shot of your nLite Unattended task Users tab. Enjoy, John.
Guest Posted March 20, 2010 Posted March 20, 2010 (edited) Windows-KB89083O-v2.13.cab is way outdated Edited September 2, 2013 by -X-
b-man Posted March 20, 2010 Author Posted March 20, 2010 (edited) @johnhc yes i do have the slip streamer and it is using thatie7 is in there its the 20th item on the list just above msdownloads.7z"S:\Nlite or xp files\XP files\NLITE\Updates\IE7-WindowsXP-x86-enu.exe"ill give that a try and screenshot the nlite tab@ -X- yeah a bit out of date i havent updated the main things for a fair while cheers ill add that 1 (edit) that 1 only has an ini file no other files with it..??? Edited March 20, 2010 by b-man
johnhc Posted March 20, 2010 Posted March 20, 2010 b-man, the reason I did not see the IE7 installer is that it is after the IE7 updates. The installer should be before the updates. I think what -X- is basically saying is that your updates are not current and you need to look at them. After running your experiment with nothing in the hot fix section, please consider an Update Pack. RayanVM forums has several. I do not use them (and run XP x64), and do not know if they have one with no IE or with IE7. Why are you not using IE8? Will await your test. Thanks, John.
b-man Posted March 20, 2010 Author Posted March 20, 2010 (edited) i had problems with ie8 so i stay away from it and also use firefox as my main 1 and IE7 if i need to use IE for some reasoncompiling disc and will test in virtual box in a min(posted the pic of my nlite tab above)also its only that file (malicious software tool thats updated monthly anyway so hard to keep up with it when u have to find a cab instead of use the windows update) (and the msdownloads that aren't up to date everything else is pretty updated except i run IE7 instead of IE8ok using the same lastsession.ini but removing the hotfixes and not running runonce it workedwould it be the run once file causing it..?ill try with hotfixes and without runonce and report back Edited March 20, 2010 by b-man
johnhc Posted March 20, 2010 Posted March 20, 2010 b-man, OK, great. The Users screen shot looks good as your test verifies. I don't know what is in your RunOnceGUI (none in the Last Session you attached), but I would be more suspect of the things in your hot fix section. If it turns out to be the RunOnceGUI, then attach the file you are running and we will take a look. Please expunge any private data first. Good luck, John.
b-man Posted March 21, 2010 Author Posted March 21, 2010 (edited) ok added hotfixes and it still worked and then noticed what could be the problemwhen i added my runonce(using runonceEX rather than nlites run once) i overwrote the cmdlines.txt that had the nlite info altho i was sure i had set it up so it had both in there??obviously doing things very late at night i overlooked it so tested again and it workedthanks for your help to my stupidity Edited March 21, 2010 by b-man
johnhc Posted March 21, 2010 Posted March 21, 2010 b-man, glad you fixed it and thanks for the report. Enjoy, John.
