nienberg
I get the following error when using winsetupfromusb 1.0 beta 4 to configure an external USB drive. The OS I am trying to set up for installation is the tablet version of XP. It appears that the grub4dos install worked correctly, because I can select the installation when booting from the usb drive, but shortly after that it claims a file is missing so it doesn't get to the windows installation. ilko_t
Can you zip and attach the log file in program directory?Backups of the logs are in backups folder, look for the largest file.
nienberg
Here is the log file. Even zipped it was too big to upload, so I deleted most of the lines that showed the files that were being copied. Thanks for looking at it.WinSetupFromUSB.zip
ilko_t
There is something going wrong:2010/02/01 10:57:28- WDC WD25 00KS-00MJB0 USB Device2010/02/01 10:57:28- DeviceID: \\.\PHYSICALDRIVE12010/02/01 10:57:28- PNPDeviceID: USBSTOR\DISK&VEN_WDC_WD25&PROD_00KS-00MJB0&REV_\FDC0FD250000000FD0FCAFF2109269&02010/02/01 10:57:28- Partitions count: 42010/02/01 10:57:28- Disk--Partition: Disk #1, Partition #02010/02/01 10:57:28- Logical Disk: F: File system: NTFS Primary: True2010/02/01 10:57:28- Logical Disk: M: File system: NTFS Primary: True2010/02/01 10:57:28- Disk--Partition: Disk #1, Partition #12010/02/01 10:57:28- Logical Disk: G: File system: Primary: True2010/02/01 10:57:28- Logical Disk: L: File system: Primary: True2010/02/01 10:57:28- Disk--Partition: Disk #1, Partition #22010/02/01 10:57:28- Logical Disk: H: File system: Primary: True2010/02/01 10:57:28- Logical Disk: K: File system: Primary: True2010/02/01 10:57:28- Disk--Partition: Disk #1, Partition #32010/02/01 10:57:28- Logical Disk: I: File system: Primary: True2010/02/01 10:57:28- Logical Disk: J: File system: Primary: TrueNote double letters for the same partitions.I'd format the disk, unplug it using safely remove hardware icon, reconnect it and then continue. If the error persists- have a look at HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\MountedDevices and delete the entries for F-I and M-J, then reconnect the hard disk.I'll look at the code and see how to avoid those cases. nienberg
I suppose that happened because the drive was already partitioned before I started WinSetupFromUSB and then I allowed it to be partitioned again. I started over after wiping the drive and I got a lot further this time, but still not there. When I try to boot from the USB drive I get the error:File \WINSETUP\XPpSP2\ntoskernel.exe could not be loaded. The error code is 14 I searched the files that are on the drive and that one is not there. There is an error at the end of the log that may be related. A short version of the log is attached. Thanks for any suggestions.WinSetupFromUSB.zip
ilko_t
What are you using as a source?2010/02/03 12:04:13- Total source size- 4579 MB Have you tried with original, not modified source? Was h:\winsetup\xppsp2\i386\setup.ex_ present? Can you zip and attach D:\tabletXP\I386\TXTSETUP.SIF with the full WinSetupFromUSB.log file? Use datafilehost.com if attachemnt gets too large, or 7z compression, it may compress it much better.
