HardDriv'n Posted December 20, 2009 Posted December 20, 2009 (edited) I'm attempting to create a multi session disc with cd-da, using cdrecord on Windows Vista (x86). After running this at the command line: cdrecord -dev=0,0,0 -multi -pad -audio *.wavThis is the message I receive after I get a "cdrecord has stopped working" message for each track.Cdrecord-ProDVD-ProBD-Clone 2.01.01a36 (i686-pc-cygwin) Copyright (C) 1995-2007Jörg Schillingscsidev: '0,0,0'scsibus: 0 target: 0 lun: 0Using libscg version 'schily-0.9'.Device type : Removable CD-ROMVersion : 0Response Format: 2Capabilities :Vendor_info : 'Optiarc 'Identifikation : 'DVD RW AD-7203A 'Revision : '1-W1'Device seems to be: Generic mmc2 DVD-R/DVD-RW/DVD-RAM.Using generic SCSI-3/mmc CD-R/CD-RW driver (mmc_cdr).Driver flags : MMC-3 SWABAUDIO BURNFREESupported modes: TAO PACKET SAO SAO/R96R RAW/R96R 14 [main] cdrecord 4368 fork: child -1 - died waiting for longjmp before initialization, retry 0, exit code 0xC0000005, errno 11cdrecord: Resource temporarily unavailable. fork(2) failedAny ideas? The reason I'm using cdrecord is for a very specific purpose, so suggesting alternative burning programs would not be helpful. Edited December 20, 2009 by HardDriv'n
strel Posted December 20, 2009 Posted December 20, 2009 A quick search let me see that this kind of error appears with other programs running on cygwin. I think it could be not the best idea to run this kind of program over a linux API emulation. Try it directly on linux.
jaclaz Posted December 20, 2009 Posted December 20, 2009 The reason I'm using cdrecord is for a very specific purpose, so suggesting alternative burning programs would not be helpful.Well, the good thing about life its that everyone has his/her own reasons. The reason why I am not suggesting you another app, nor suggesting you anything else, is that you do not detail the "very specific purpose".Just in order to not appear completely unhelpful, I will throw in the "gracetime" command, without comments.jaclaz

DO you know of any way to do the above with a different app on Vista 32 or 64? Edited December 20, 2009 by HardDriv'n
jaclaz Posted December 21, 2009 Posted December 21, 2009 That is a form of hybrid CD, "mixed mode", the so called CD-Extra (CD Plus or Enhanced CD).A number of commercial tools will do this kind of cd's.The procedure using cdrecord and mkisofs is sketched here:http://wizardlinuxteam.altervista.org/wiki...oni_separate.29http://howto-pages.org/cdwriting/11.phpBut you seem like having problems with the first run of cdrecord, it is very possible that Vista breaks compatibility with cdrecord, but it may also depend on the actual build/version you are using.Latest versions should be Vista compatible, but you may need to compile yourself:ftp://ftp.berlios.de/pub/cdrecord/alpha/Latest compiled Win32 port should be this one:http://home.arcor.de/artemis002/tools/cdrt...9-bin-win32.rarCourtesy of cdrtfe:http://cdrtfe.sourceforge.net/cdrtfe/index_en.htmlhttp://cdrtfe.sourceforge.net/tools/index_en.htmlYou can also try to launch it in "compatible mode".jaclaz
HardDriv'n Posted December 21, 2009 Author Posted December 21, 2009 Seems all I had to do was use the latest version, thanks for the links to the Win32 binaries.
HardDriv'n Posted December 22, 2009 Author Posted December 22, 2009 Actually after actually testing the disc, I guess it wasn't the end of my woes...Cdrecord seemed to burn the cd-da and the second session iso propery, but when I go to view the disc it shows up as blank..?I'm using Memorex cd-rws for this. It doesn't seem to matter whether they are burned for the first time or erased/reused discs.Anyone ever get a recently burned disc reading as blank on a Vista 32/64 bit OS?
jaclaz Posted December 22, 2009 Posted December 22, 2009 Try checking the .iso with good ol' CDMAGE:http://www.softpedia.com/get/CD-DVD-Tools/...s/CD-Mage.shtmlhttp://www.softpedia.com/get/PORTABLE-SOFT...le-CDmage.shtmlAnd see if it looks "right".jaclaz
HardDriv'n Posted December 24, 2009 Author Posted December 24, 2009 I ended up creating a disc with an audio dummy 1st session track, and the second session iso. I then burned it with Alcohol 120% successfully, so it's not the discs.Still I'm left unable to create the disc with cd-da...To be honest, even when trying on the Win98-XP oses with older version, cdrecord failed ALOT. It has to be the worst piece of free software I've ever attempted to use.Could someone recommend any commercial software that could accomplish the above task? I'd be willing to fork out some cash for a mostly headache free proggy capable of this.
jaclaz Posted December 24, 2009 Posted December 24, 2009 Can you post the exact procedure you are following?Maybe there is something in it. jaclaz
Martin H Posted January 7, 2010 Posted January 7, 2010 I have previously used Nero(I used latest v6, as the newer versions where two bloated) to add an iso as second session to a cd-r left open with audio tracks on it... This is something that not many apps can do if the second session is an image, since the images LBA's needs to be corrected to new LBA's i.e. of the second session(to technical, just forget that...)Anyway, I'm not 100% sure, as i haven't tried it, but try the freeware ImgBurn(newer versions)... Go into 'write' mode and select 'create cue' and then add your audio files, and then select 'add a new session' or 'ctrl+s' and add the image...
