prebsrev
I have used Nlite to create a XP installation disc with XP (OEM Version) and SP3 and drivers for Dell Inspiron 1520 SATA disc.No problem so far.During installation I have to type in Activation Code for XP, but it will not accept the code from the little slip on the computer. Is there something I have missed ? All help appreciated !
Ponch
Is there something I have missed ? Yes:-point 4 of the XP Forum Posting Rules.-the nLite forum-relevant thread on the 1st page., lots of them further if you search. We'll get this thread moved if Mods want it.Common problem is using your specific (sticker) key that is meant to be used with a generic OEM disc when the disc you made is in fact based on an auto-activated XP that uses a special key (that is the same on all cds from the manufacturer) that you can find in an answer file somewhere in the i386 folder. That auto activation can only work with specific motherboards and specific files on that same cd. Edited November 26, 2009 by Ponch
prebsrev
UH - Sorry about the wrong forum! It's a bit tricky about the OEM part because my computer originally came with ME (Yes - it's that old!), but due to several problems with new hardware and drivers and so forth, the shop provided me with XP.I have reinstalled XP a couple of times with no problems.Well - I'll just try some new approach. Thanks
