I had to reload Windows XP into my Dell after a problem with a trojan that could not be fixed. I had the CD that I had burned from the original OS, so I figured there would be no problem. During the reload, I found a window had popped up saying "OEMBIOS.bin Setup cannot copy the file". I clicked on the ok button, and the computer finished loading the system into my computer. I have started, restarted, booted, and rebooted my computer many times, and I cannot see where there are any problems with it. I have also re-loaded all of the driver discs, and the other discs that came with my computer. To this point, I cannot see where the missing program, OEMBIOS.bin, is causing me any problems. What should I do, or consider from here? I am not overly well versed about this, and would greatly appreciate whatever information I can get. THANK YOU ALL!!! MIDCOASTMANIAC

That is one of the files that are used to validate the auto-activation of your XP. I don'(t know what other problem it can cause. Can you check if your XP is activated or not ? Can you also check your cd if the file is present (oembios.bi_ ) and readable ?

Thanks, I will check it when I get back to it. I'm at work and the unit is at my home. As a note, my Win XP at work has that file in it, and I tried to email it to myself to install, but yahoo won't allow that size to load into them. Can it be transferred? If so, on a floppy or maybe a cd? Appreciate the response.

forget about transferring it thru a floppy, midcoastmaniac!

the oembios.bin file is at least 10 megabytes in size. best chance you have is probably thru a re-writable cd.

Thank You Erpdude! I do appreciate the help. Funny thing, though. My unit is working as well as it was when it was new. Can't tell the Oembios is not even there, YET! Will keep it going though!

THANKS AGAIN!!
