tootlet
Greetings,I want a minimal install of Vista Home Premium 64 bit. My disk has SP1 and I've downloaded SP2. I understand slipstreaming is not supported. But when I tried to install SP2 it failed. I went to the site and it said you can't install on vLite as necessary components have been removed. I tried using Windows Update on this system and it downloaded 3 updates but went into an endless loop of trying to install them.Indeed, I want to remove Windows Live Messenger, Meeting space, Tablet PC, Win Media Player, modem support, Windows defender and many other things I don't need. But does this mean I can't load SP2? This is a gaming machine. I want to play games on it. I have linux for work. What is the best method to strip Vista down to the fastest kernel? Is any reduction via vLite dooming SP2 install to failure? How do I add SP2? Thanks,t

tootlet
Hi.I've read that thread. I'm trying to follow the first integration method. I started the install to a fresh hard drive. I downloaded and installed WAIK on another Vista installation. (I wasn't asking for nor recommending downloading individual components of WAIK) but got stuck on:imagex /compress maximum /flags "HomePremium" /capture f: c:\install.wim "Windows Vista Home Premium" f: is the new drive with the install.wim I'm trying to copy. imagex is not recognizedd as an internal or external command.I have a Windows AIK folder but using search I can't find an imagex or ImageX or whatever. I went through explorer and attempted to find it that way but no luck. I've been googling but noone else seems to reference this problem. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks,Tom
