Recently, I have noticed a change in the Intel DG31GL behaviour in the BIOS. It has not had a BIOS update since 5/14/09, which was version 0009. Here are the symptoms and maybe someone can make sense of them:

1. It comes with BIOS 0005. Everything is normal except that it detects 2 CD Drives when there is only 1. FYI the CD Drive is SATA.

2. Update BIOS to 0009. It still sees 2 CD Drives, but the Boot menu shows 4 Boot Order options. That's 4 separate ones. If you set the order on one of them, then go to the next, it reverts your changes.

3. Using the BIOS recovery option to downgrade to 0007, it says the BIOS is already at 0007. This is wrong because it is at 0009. When 0007 is installed, the Boot Order screen looks correct but still sees 2 CD Drives.

4. Updating to 0009 makes it look like it did in #2.

Any idea about this? Since its in the BIOS, I can't take a screen shot, but here is a basic attempt to show the 4 boot orders: (top half only)

Boot Menu Type [Normal]
Boot Device Priority [Floppy Drive]
[Hard Disk Drive]
Boot Device Priority [Floppy Drive]
[Hard Disk Drive]
