ner Posted June 19, 2009 Posted June 19, 2009 Hi All,I have now created my master installation image using symantec ghost - No Probles works a treat. However I habe noticed that the new cumputers that have had this new image applied too, have listed deleted files that were removed from the master PC.No I suspect that the issue is that the MFT is still stoing these file names, so I am wondering what can i do to clean these out before making another image of the master PC.Dont really want to go and but a problem to do a clean, so any freeware or can anyone help..... Cheers
Ponch Posted June 19, 2009 Posted June 19, 2009 That seems very unlikely. What Os are you cloning, what version of Ghost are you using and how did you create the image ? Are you cloning disks or partitions ?
ner Posted June 19, 2009 Author Posted June 19, 2009 windows vista is the operating system and using ghost 11.5. thought i should just you something "killdisk" to clean mtf before ghosting, that i think is the solution???
DigeratiPrime Posted June 21, 2009 Posted June 21, 2009 I believe that when a file is deleted it is actually removed from the MFT, so it appears deleted although the data is not securely erased from the disk. Hence Ghost has nothing to do with this problem. What exactly do you mean by "listed" anyway, it appears in Explorer? What settings / options are you using to backup with Ghost? Are you using sector copy?I suggest looking into ImageX and WIM from Microsoft...
