After installing IE8 my sidebar is all messed up, and the clock gadget is using 50% cpu (MS's or Clocktopia). Uninstalled IE8 and reinstalled but the same.

Uninstalling IE8 fixes the sidebar problem.

This is why I prefer Firefox.

Get a hang dump of sidebar.exe after about 30 seconds of chewing up CPU, using the instructions in the link. Then, compress the c:\adplus folder and put it somewhere we can get to it and we'll know more of what's happening.

Try re registering the sidebar files with these three commands

"%ProgramFiles%\Windows Sidebar\sidebar.exe" /RegServer

REGSVR32 "%ProgramFiles%\Windows Sidebar\sbdrop.dll"

REGSVR32 "%ProgramFiles%\Windows Sidebar\wlsrvc.dll"

The zip folder is 71MB and I don't have anyplace to store it.

Tried the 3 commands but got this on the 2nd and 3rd.

It must have something to do with the ATI drivers. I changed the DPI and the sidebar is fine now with IE8 installed.

Got ATI 9.3 installed.

9.4-5 don't have my screen res of 1440x900 for some reason (notified them several days ago).

Thanks
