MDT 500GB busy dying?

Hey all

Has anyone had experience with a MDT 500GB? drive works intermittently (eg. every second time its powered up it doesn't want to be recognized)

I checked all the usual stuff(virusses, bad sectors, disk checking utilities) nothing funny reported. and there aren't funny noises when it starts up..

Anyone now where I can get a firmware update for it?

Model - MD05000-BQGW-RO

Any one with some suggestions?

MDT doesn't make any drives, it merely resells drives from other manufacturers -- those it gets for dirt cheap like refurbished drives. Not surprising at all if it dies on you. I sure wouldn't put my data on this drive.

buddy of mine brought it to me..thought it looked it a bit dodgy, but anyhow..Do you know if there's anyway to tell who actually made the drive??
