second stage setup problem

hello, i attempted to install xp to a dell mini lap through usb since it doesn't have a disc drive.

I used usb mutliboot 10 and everything went fine copying the files in after formatting the drive in the first stage of the setup.

I got the hal error since i installed the the 2nd partion and had the boot.ini pointing to the first part. i disconnected the usb flash

drive and changed the boot.ini settings and it loads windows setup fine but i get an error that it didnt fined the files it need as if

its not looking in the right place or the usb is not connected. I tried to do part one again but i get a bsod every time after it tries

to start windows setup for the first time. any idea what could be wrong?
