I am not satisfied at all with the Vista Sync Center.

I have a HTPC with XP SP2 in the living room and I would that it automatically retrieves the new downloaded movies from my other computer with Vista.

What is the best synchronization program around?

Have you considered using a network share on your Vista pc and either mapping it as a drive or creating a shortcut to the unc path on your XP pc?

Yes, but I want everything automated.

I don't want to bother at doing sync by myself. ;)

I think we might be misunderstanding each other. My point is if you sync the two folders you will have duplicate files. If you just share the folder you will always have access to the latest files in the folder without waiting to for the files to copy; in doing so creating duplicates.

I got the point, but the fact is I don't wanna leave my Vista computer on.

I just want to have everything (i.e. TV series, MP3s, movies, etc., etc.) copied automatically in my HTPC as soon as this is on and connected to the LAN.

I don't know how else to say it: I WANT AUTOMATED SYNCHRONISATION!

If it has to be manual I can do it myself by copying & pasting files like I did until now hehe.

No need WHATSOEVER to shout.

Samedir has this feature, what do you think the "real time monitoring of source folder" is for?

Just in case, you can use any app scheduling it:

I would like that it monitors the source too to detect when the HTPC is on.

Source monitoring can be done by hundreds of apps.

I think it doesn't exist then, right?

Well I am going back to the good old copy&paste. :hello:

Sure, it would also be possible to have one that monitors if you're getting sleepy while watching the movies and makes you a nice cup of coffee (for me: black, two spoonful of sugar, please ;)).

@iamtheky

Seems like a nice one. :)

Here is another one, just for the record:

OZSYNC

http://nebula1979.fortunecity.it/

though it is NOT reported as working under Vista

Dsynchronize (from the same Author of HDhacker):

http://dimio.altervista.org/eng/

is Vista compatible, and it is nicely small. :)
