Cr4z33 Posted March 30, 2009 Posted March 30, 2009 I am not satisfied at all with the Vista Sync Center.I have a HTPC with XP SP2 in the living room and I would that it automatically retrieves the new downloaded movies from my other computer with Vista. What is the best synchronization program around?
DigeratiPrime Posted March 30, 2009 Posted March 30, 2009 Have you considered using a network share on your Vista pc and either mapping it as a drive or creating a shortcut to the unc path on your XP pc?
Cr4z33 Posted March 31, 2009 Author Posted March 31, 2009 Have you considered using a network share on your Vista pc and either mapping it as a drive or creating a shortcut to the unc path on your XP pc?Yes, but I want everything automated.I don't want to bother at doing sync by myself.
DigeratiPrime Posted March 31, 2009 Posted March 31, 2009 I think we might be misunderstanding each other. My point is if you sync the two folders you will have duplicate files. If you just share the folder you will always have access to the latest files in the folder without waiting to for the files to copy; in doing so creating duplicates.

jaclaz Posted March 31, 2009 Posted March 31, 2009 I remember using a program from Vladimir Salnikov, Samedir.Site is no more, but can still be found through the Wayback Machine :http://web.archive.org/web/*/http://samedir.sbn.bz/http://web.archive.org/web/20071219121541/...samedir.sbn.bz/Cannot say if it will work with Vista. jaclaz
Cr4z33 Posted March 31, 2009 Author Posted March 31, 2009 I don't know how else to say it: I WANT AUTOMATED SYNCHRONISATION! If it has to be manual I can do it myself by copying & pasting files like I did until now hehe.
mezron Posted April 1, 2009 Posted April 1, 2009 I use Goodsync Goodsync.com it's pretty flexible in how it can be scheduled.

Just in case, you can use any app scheduling it:http://www.ss64.com/nt/schtasks.htmljaclaz
Cr4z33 Posted April 1, 2009 Author Posted April 1, 2009 what do you think the "real time monitoring of source folder" is for? I would like that it monitors the source too to detect when the HTPC is on.Source monitoring can be done by hundreds of apps.I think it doesn't exist then, right?Well I am going back to the good old copy&paste.
iamtheky Posted April 1, 2009 Posted April 1, 2009 I know you gave it two whole days and all, but maybehttp://sourceforge.net/projects/palsynchronizer/i dont know if it can be automated, but seems fairly useful if not at least a replacement for copy and paste.

Sure, it would also be possible to have one that monitors if you're getting sleepy while watching the movies and makes you a nice cup of coffee (for me: black, two spoonful of sugar, please ).@iamthekySeems like a nice one. Here is another one, just for the record:OZSYNChttp://nebula1979.fortunecity.it/though it is NOT reported as working under VistaDsynchronize (from the same Author of HDhacker):http://dimio.altervista.org/eng/is Vista compatible, and it is nicely small. jaclaz
