so I'm trying to play lost planet

any way after returning last laptop for a new one, i picked up a Philip's controller as positive thinking.

but its controls are not working right ??

i tried to use the PC controller but it gives few options and nothing i can figure out to make it work??

I'm using vista 64bit ??

any one have this problem/ did you find a fix??

is there a better option out there ??

with sooooo many 1st person games out some one must make a decent controller ??

i been surviving on command and conquer games for ever :blushing: but with the new C&C 3 and red alert 3 :thumbup i needed to upgrade my PC. so with the upgrade i figured it was time to get into the 1st person games i could only play on play station before. i tried them on the PC way back with tom Clancy's rainbow 6 but hated the key board controls. thinking there as to be a better way ???

so whats the norm out there in gamer world ?? do i just have to learn to use the keys , or is there a better way ???

as you can see i tried a Philip's controller with disastrous results. :realmad:

help a new-B out and give me the inside scoop !!!!!

thanks

James

PC gaming has always been known for the Mouse and Keyboard Combination, when I went from consoles to PC gaming...I'd never turn back to a controller!

seeing how lost planet is a straight port of a xbox360 game i would recommend the 360 wireless controller.

CNET.com.au: Is Lost Planet for PC better played with a keyboard/mouse or a controller?

JT: As I mentioned in response to the last question, the game was originally designed around Microsoft's Xbox 360 controller. So the original experience we intended for players to have could best be had on controller. However, we understand that many PC gamers are used to the keyboard-and-mouse style of game play, so we aimed to strike a balance. We wanted, for example, to make sure that the speed and acceleration of aiming didn't feel different depending on the input devices while trying not to make anything feel awkward for keyboard-and-mouse users.

I'm having ruble with the mouse controller option. every thing moves waaaaaaayyyyyy!!! to fast with the slightest movement of the mouse. i suspect its just a question of figuring out how to slow down the mouse response, but right now it makes e dizzzyyyyy and is not doable as a control.

i will try an X-box 360 controller this pay day i think. with the new laptop and all the network stuff this month i have wiped out my game savings and then some.

i also want to get rid of some of the extra garbage running on the new laptop ( I'll start a thread about that if i cant find some thing in a search) before really getting into it. for now I'll be OK with my new C&C games.

on the brighter side the wife made me do it, so I'm not in trouble with her...:) :) that's a big +

thanks for all the help

James

You can buy an xbox 360 controller for PC and I think they are also compatible with an xbox 360 if you have one. I just use keyboard and mouse, but if you are used to a controller then I guess it would be easier for games until you ease into using a keyboard/mouse.
