I just made a Windows XP pro CD and removed a lot of things to make it easy on resources. But now it thinks it's an upgrade version..

Any ideas on what i might have done wrong?

Yes. You didn`t attach your "Last Session.ini", that`s wrong. :whistle:

Why do you think it`s an Upgrade-Version?

  • Author

I was just about to upload that because i thought of that haha...

But it's not that i think, In virtual box it tells me it's an upgrade an no version of Windows was detected so it can not upgrade. i'll attach a screenshot as well as my last session.ini

Yes, looks like Upgrade-CD.

Maybe you can change that in your XPCD, have a look at THIS.

Because of i´m from Germany (Admin @ German-nLite) it`s a link to our German-nLite-Forum.

If you got problems with understanding, i`ll help you with translation.

Ehh.. I don't speak german.. I mean i know a few words, but thats it tried using google translate. But it confuses my american brain haha..

But from what i saw student versions are upgrades only Which is strange because i have a student version, But it installed normally Although XP was on that machine before, Could that be why?

EDIT: on it it said something about setup.ini folder and it's contents. need to look like this (or close)

[Pid]

ExtraData=6E6C71797669696A68758FBC7AB7CF Extra Data = 6E6C71797669696A68758FBC7AB7CF

Pid= 55276 011 Pid = 55276 011

Mine look like this

[Pid]

ExtraData=70656C7063627770737A9EA8ADEC29

Pid=76488000

I'll try changing the number at the end to 007 (retail) maybe it'll work, Else i need to go back to my XP SP2 CD and remake a SP3 slipstream haha..

EDIT: Failed =/ I'll try my SP2 slipstreamed with SP3 and see if it's just that version

The red/blue numbers got to be correct - you can change them for testing.

55274 - XP Professional OEM

55285 - XP Professional

55661 - XP Professional Retail

The last 3 digits got to be 011 (later in the original thread someboby mentioned that it can be 000 too.

I never done that by myself, so just give it a try. Make a backup of the original file "setupp.ini" please.

Should i try changing all the numbers then? Or just use my Sp2 and slipstream SP3 into it and work from there?

tried but it failed. Weird.

I really don`t know exactly - i never tried it.

I would slipstream SP3 and try on that source.

Working on it as i type this, I'll let you know if it works or not, If it doesn't work for this, Then i know it's some modifications i did.

Well it worked like a charm. Guess my XP SP3 disc is an upgrade :(

But at least i have another working serial. :)

Thanks for all your help, I would have never figured this out.

EDIT:

Uhh another problem, it's saying a file is corrupt.. it's just saying

the file " .sif" is corrupted or missing. Valute 0 on the line in setion [sourceDisksFiles] with key "SP3.cab." setup cannot continue
