woodpusher Posted February 25, 2009 Posted February 25, 2009 Hi!Unfortunately, NDD.EXE (from Norton Utilities 2002) doesn't find my NTFS formatted partitions. Is there another small standalone tool which does the same job?Or do I have to use CHKDSK? (which parameters?)Thanks in advance for your replies!
submix8c Posted February 25, 2009 Posted February 25, 2009 (edited) NDD ugghhh! 2002 does not support you apparently.from command prompt - chkdsk /? will answer your question. For that matter, right-clicking on the drive in question allows for a "scandisk" as well (right-click, select Properies, then the Tools tab.).edit - also some Linux Live CD's will also do this (I think...). woodpusher Posted March 2, 2009 Author Posted March 2, 2009 @submix8c: I used your second method which seems to be a GUI for chkdsk. I checked the option "Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors". The scan took a while but did not give me a report. Can I now be sure that there are no lost clusters on the disk?
submix8c Posted March 2, 2009 Posted March 2, 2009 No message, probably no problem. Would probably have "told" you otherwise.
