Lecco Posted February 24, 2009 Posted February 24, 2009 Virtual PC does that. Decrease the size of your RAM. At least that worked for me.

Lecco Posted March 4, 2009 Posted March 4, 2009 What is not clear about that ? Decrease the size of your RAM. At least that worked for me.
starcraftmaster Posted March 5, 2009 Author Posted March 5, 2009 What is not clear about that ? Decrease the size of your RAM. At least that worked for me. oh ok thenbut you you go to msconfig and then advanced and lower it in there or you mean take ram out of the computer and put lower ram sticks in?
jaclaz Posted March 5, 2009 Posted March 5, 2009 @LeccoAre you running Windows 98 SE or Windows ME?They are NOT exactly the same, though similar. Moreover, unless you actually start it, Virtual PC can be set to "eat as much RAM as you like" .@starcraftmasterFrom what you report, it doesn't seem to me like the portrait of a stable OS..... Just for the record, I keep a log of the times I had to restart by pressing the power button on the two machines I usually run, till today:NT 4.00 (installed in 2000, October) 4 (four) times (each time due to bad behaviour of the UPS software/communication in occasion of blackouts/power surges)Win2K (installed in March 2003) 0 (zero) timesjaclaz
Lecco Posted March 5, 2009 Posted March 5, 2009 but you you go to msconfig and then advanced and lower it in there or you mean take ram out of the computer and put lower ram sticks in?Decreasing the amount of RAM in msconfig is enough. @LeccoAre you running Windows 98 SE or Windows ME?They are NOT exactly the same, though similar. Moreover, unless you actually start it, Virtual PC can be set to "eat as much RAM as you like" .98SE, it is in my profile and in my signature. @starcraftmasterFrom what you report, it doesn't seem to me like the portrait of a stable OS..... Nope, my system is practically clean and does the same as above.
jaclaz Posted March 5, 2009 Posted March 5, 2009 @LeccoYep, I know, but starcraftmaster is talking about Win ME, not 98.The comment I made @starcraftmaster was somehow loosely, but not much , connected to his thread here:http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=130524&hl=jaclaz
Lecco Posted March 5, 2009 Posted March 5, 2009 Yeah right, but lets see if lowering RAM helps. It should. Im at 479MB right now.
