Woo. I wasn't able to believe this that Gmail is hacked! This is really unbelievable that one of the biggest site in the world is hacked and the Hackers put porn pics on the Google groups.

I use Gmail because it is convenient, but I wouldn't rely on or trust it; same goes for any 3rd party email service.

It's been happening since at least August 2008 to some section of Gmail users off and on, so it's old news, yes. The fact that it's still happening is interesting, but not news.

That's why I rely on Axigen Mail for linux installed on my own (well... my company's) servers

From March all internet service providers (ISPs) will by law have to keep information about every e-mail sent or received in the UK for a year.

That is, details of roughly 3 Billion emails per day, or roughly 1 Trillion emails per year.

Also,

Reports have suggested the government has even bigger plans for data retention called the Interception Modernisation Programme.

It could involve one central database, gathering details on every text sent, e-mail sent, phone call made and website visited.

Sheesh. What a mess.
