SirHaschke Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 Hello,i have create a "Batch DVD" for XP with some applications. This works fine.Under Vista, if i try to start an application i get this errors like in the pictures. Why?On each setup i get a message from UAC (User Account Control)! How can i bypass this?Only deactivate UAC in Vista?Have someone expiriences with WPI and Vista to do automated solutions?ThanksDennis
lordsepid Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 hiyou can disable UAC for your account under user account control panel.i don't know german so i don't know what the error is saying but i think this error happens because the files (history.js and rb_config.js) exist in your C:\ driveyou should delete them first.i hope this help. B)
SirHaschke Posted February 3, 2009 Author Posted February 3, 2009 OK.Is there another posibility to disable UAC?The message mean:"Could not create reboot file: history.js, rb_config.js"I think this file is create on c:\ an on Vista there are not enough pewrmissions. But but why WPI will create such a file? How do other users solve installtions with WPI under Vista?
Kelsenellenelvian Posted February 3, 2009 Posted February 3, 2009 They use the handily provided sources file...
SirHaschke Posted February 4, 2009 Author Posted February 4, 2009 @KelsenellenelvianWhat do you mean exactly?
Kelsenellenelvian Posted February 4, 2009 Posted February 4, 2009 If you read the first post or the manual you will see a Sources folder for download. This folder sets up WPI to run in the "dead space" between login and full activity thus running all of your stuff before UAC has kicked in.
SirHaschke Posted February 5, 2009 Author Posted February 5, 2009 OK.I downloaded the "setupcomplete.cmd".All what i must do is to put it in the root of the CD/DVD an start WPI with the "setupcomplete.cmd"?An then i get not the error messages above and no UAC errors?
Kelsenellenelvian Posted February 6, 2009 Posted February 6, 2009 This is for use with all versions of Windows Vista and Server 2008!To make use of this archive all you need to do is unRAR it and place the Sources folder at the root of your CD.
SirHaschke Posted February 6, 2009 Author Posted February 6, 2009 Thanks for your answer.I must put the $OEM$ folder with all subfolders at the root of my CD/DVD?What happend then?I want to start WPI from Vista without errors and UAC messages.Sorry for the questions but the running is not entirely clear to me... :-(
Kelsenellenelvian Posted February 6, 2009 Posted February 6, 2009 OK sorry for being abrupt. The folder needs to be buried several folders deep.So right click on it and choose "Extract here" with winRAR.Take the resulting sources folder and drop it onto your copied Vista DVD folder. It will ask for overwriting this is ok.Think of setupcomplete.cmd like cmdlines.txt, it just runs in that dead space between logon and desktop.
SirHaschke Posted February 6, 2009 Author Posted February 6, 2009 (edited) OK.I would start WPI again on my ready Vista installation to add some program installations.Must i start the "setupcomplete.cmd"?Or is this always for a new Vista installation to start after the Vista installation WPI without errors? Edited February 6, 2009 by SirHaschke
Kelsenellenelvian Posted February 6, 2009 Posted February 6, 2009 (edited) Yes the setupcomplete.cmd is use only for installation stage types. To run WPI on a previously installed machine you have to disable UAC or sit and click on the yes button over and over again...You need to temporarily disable UAC. SirHaschke Posted February 7, 2009 Author Posted February 7, 2009 OK.Now it is clear to me.If i disable UAC manually it works fine for Vista.Maybe in a new WPI Version there is an automatically disabling UAC ???ThanksDennis
Kelsenellenelvian Posted February 7, 2009 Posted February 7, 2009 BELIEVE ME, if it was actually possible WPI would do it!!!
