Lorinette Posted December 31, 2008 Posted December 31, 2008 Hello,I wonder about wbaht is happening to the OOBE process which asks me If i want to register my Windows now If I use the automatic mode ?Does it automaticaly say no if it's automatic ? It's the same if i were clicking on "No" ?Thanks.
johnhc Posted December 31, 2008 Posted December 31, 2008 Lorinette, I think the answer is yes. I do Fully Automatic installs, am never asked about activation/registration and Windows is never activated. I do all this on VMware Server for testing. If you have further questions, please attach (not paste) your Last Session.ini. Enjoy, John.
Lorinette Posted January 1, 2009 Author Posted January 1, 2009 Hello,Thank you very much for you answer.I have an other question. How's that possible that on an WinXP Pro system, I can't pick-up users to set the to groups through the Group pannel administration ? Isn't the group stuff for "DOMAIN" uses purpose only and not "WORKGROUP" ?
johnhc Posted January 2, 2009 Posted January 2, 2009 Lorinette, I hope some one else will respond because I have not used user groups and know nothing about them. Good luck, John.

Isn't the group stuff for "DOMAIN" uses purpose only and not "WORKGROUP" ?Do you mean you try to manage users from other computers that are in the same work group ?(I can't answer that one but it woud just make the question clearer )
Lorinette Posted January 2, 2009 Author Posted January 2, 2009 Do you mean you try to manage users from other computers that are in the same work group ?(I can't answer that one but it woud just make the question clearer )No problem John.Ponch, in fact, I have to manage 2 limited accounts and 1 admin account (mine) on one PC.So I think, my PC should be on a WORKGROUP and not on a DOMAIN (as a DOMAIN requires at least 1 PC in an network of computer for control the domain accesses). So my question is : is it normal, that nLite allows me to creat groups like Admins, Limited Users, Duplicators etc. and that it allows me to use WORKGROUP ?I thought that to have groups, you necessary must have a DOMAIN configuration and not a WORKGROUP. Isn't it ?
iamtheky Posted January 2, 2009 Posted January 2, 2009 local groups and users are indeed local. They will just be overridden by domain rights/users when added if there are conflicts. Control panel users and groups is a limited wizard, I recommend right clicking my computer and going to manage to handle local users and groups configuration.
Ponch Posted January 2, 2009 Posted January 2, 2009 So my question is : is it normal, that nLite allows me to creat groups like Admins, Limited Users, Duplicators etc. and that it allows me to use WORKGROUP ?I thought that to have groups, you necessary must have a DOMAIN configuration and not a WORKGROUP. Isn't it ?nLite doesn't let you create groups, it lets you create local accounts and lets you place them in XP predefined local groups.Local groups can be used with workgroup as well as domain PCs. A domain is different in the way that the domain user's credentials are checked by a Domain Controller. Local users are still to be defined (and credentials checked) on the local computer.
Lorinette Posted January 2, 2009 Author Posted January 2, 2009 Thank you very much for your answers! They are very clear!
