duration
Dear All,I get the following error message after the first stage of Windows XP Pro installation using a freshly burnt nlite CD:"a write operation was attempted to a volume after it was dismounted"then the screen goes blank and I have to restart everything again. However, I do not get any error and everything goes well if I use my old Windows XP Pro SP2 from Microsoft, even if my HDD are connected with SATA (ICH10R), and I do not believe I should integrate any SATA or chipset drivers (I tried anyway and I got the same error message).Windows Vista also installs beautifully with the original CD.Here is bried information on the computer: i7 920, GA-EX58-UD5, OCZ DDR3 1600 2Go, Samsung 7200rpm 1To.Here is the newsposter
I would say that due to the newness of your hardware, you are going to have to find a way to get XP compatible CPU, chipset/mobo and SATA drivers into your XP image. No way around it. The hardware you are trying to use is newer than XP by what, 5+ years?
duration
Hi Newposter,As I mentionned earlier, Windows XP Pro SP2 from the original Microsoft CD installs just fine.Only the nLite CD I made brings me that error message.
duration
Some small update:I made an install CD with only a few hotfixes (only the one displayed there: http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=86450), and it installs fine. The problem probably comes from the additional hotfixes I have added.Any help would be appreciated! Kelsenellenelvian
http://www.ryanvm.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=6438 Yup go here.If you do not want IE7 and WMP11 then look in that forum for other update packs.
johnhc
duration, I see you have included SP3 in your hot fixes. I am sure this is your problem. Remove it from your hot fixes. Please, in the future, attach (not paste) your LastSession.ini. Enjoy, John.
duration
Hi Kelsenellenelvian,I removed the hotfixes and used the pack, and it fixed my problem, thank you.Hi John,I will attach it next time, sorry for the mess.
purkleturkle
I see this post is quite old but - I am having the same error as Duration with Nlite 1.4.9.1. Never had this problem before."a write operation was attempted to a volume after it was dismounted"Testing in VMWare and keep getting the same above error. Going by this post it is a hotfix error, however my oem folder is from SP3 media. Please find my LastSession.ini attached. Any advise apreciated. johnhc
purkleturkle, I see you are running nLite under Vista (or W7). This can be a problem, especially if your are integrating a Service Pack. Do you have boooogy's WMP11 Slipstreamer installed on your computer? NLite expects it to be installed. Do you see it running? Where did your error occur? Please post a screen shot of the error message. Enjoy, John.

It runs fine by itself and from within Nlite. See attached wmp11v1.4.2.0I am running Server2008 as a workstation. Not had aNY problems with it being vista based before for nlite. However if you say it might be WMP11 Slipstreamer which is the issue I can try it without it and post back with my results. I am getting two errors it happens after the xp text setup stage just before it gets to the main XP setup stage. See attached error.jpgThe two errors are...lsass.exe - Not enough Quota "Not enough virtual memory or paging quote is available to complete the specified operation""a write operation was attempted to a volume after it was dismounted"Steve Edited April 4, 2010 by purkleturkle
johnhc
purkleturkle, I suspect it is some or several hot fixes causing the problem. Please do a search here on "Not enough Quota" with the quotes. I did and got several hits, at least one talking about hot fixes. Please notice that both errors are about isass.exe. I see you have some "windowsmedia" hot fixes at the end of your list. Should these be there? I think you will need to sort out your hot fixes and see which belong and which do not. Please let us hear. Enjoy, John. Guest
ProgramAddons_Internet_Explorer_8.0.cab - this is a svcpack installer method but you have slipstreamed IE8 updates. I'm not sure how that's going to work out. You should put an IE8 installer and the IE8 updates in a folder then use Onepiece's addon creator. http://www.ryanvm.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=7622.Also, there's only 2 IE8 updates that are high-priority -> IE8-WindowsXP-KB980182-x86-ENU.exe and IE8-WindowsXP-KB976662-x86-ENU.exe.What are those other updates? The way I have always got my updates is to install XP in VMware and then run windows updates to see what updates XP needs then download them with Windows Catalog. These ones would of come up... if I need them is another matter and by the sounds of it NOT! Especially if I am using the svcpack as you have said. These are the IE8 updates I have below.. johnhc
purkleturkle, I cannot tell you what updates you need/don't need because I run XP x64. I know there is a 'slipstream' AddOn for IE8 from Serby above in the Application Add-Ons sub-forum. There may be others, please search here and maybe on the RyanVM forum. You just place them in the hot fix section and add updates after. The AddOn is slipped into the source and the updates follow. To use your process, you need to include the "slipstream" IE8 and WMP11 and nothing else then install on VM and run Windows Update to see what updates are needed.
