creating a windows without the win32 subsystem

is it possible to create a windows setup that has only the files needed to run a native EXE meaning that it does not have win32.sys or any other file relating to the win32 subsystem or windows explorer?

also, will it be possible in future versions of nlite to remove windows explorer in case the user wishes to install an alternative shell???

Yes and No.

The thing that mostly resembles what you describe is the Winroot project:

but it is pretty much useless right now.

A somewhat more useful thingy (still VERY experimental) may be XPCLI:

(be patient, boot-land is experienceing some server problems)
