grafx1 Posted November 6, 2008 Posted November 6, 2008 what i know : to extend wireless range of a wireless router is to attach an access point to it.my question is about:SSIDchannelencryptionall of this have to be the same on the 2 devices ?if the channel has to be different, my (Atheros) wireless card has a fixed channel no. in its settings, so how to fix that ?Thank you.
tain Posted November 6, 2008 Posted November 6, 2008 Yes, all of that needs to be the same because the device extending your range is actually on your network.Your card is unlikely to have a fixed channel. It probably uses whichever channel (1-11) is being used on the network that you connect to. You need to worry about the channel at the router/AP level.
