wcology Posted October 31, 2008 Posted October 31, 2008 I have Office 2007 and I'd like to put it on an eeePC. However due to its small disk I will only put Word on there. so under the "installation options" tab during installing, what are need by Word specifically and what can I strip down? I'm expecting the app to be around 30 MB after install if not less since I won't be using any app other than Word on it.
Kelsenellenelvian Posted October 31, 2008 Posted October 31, 2008 I JUST tried Windows 2007 (Word only) on a VMWare test I was running. @ 140 megs total. I would suggest a slightly older version of Office if your goal is that small.Or maybe abiword:http://www.abisource.com/Maybe even openoffice:http://download.openoffice.org/index.htmlThey both support MS word formats and are much, much lighter.Office 2007 is actually quite bloated.
wcology Posted November 1, 2008 Author Posted November 1, 2008 ya i can use openoffice writer by itself. so what are needed in the "optional components" specifically for writer?
jaclaz Posted November 1, 2008 Posted November 1, 2008 Or, for a few bucks, Atlantis:http://www.atlantiswordprocessor.com/en/smallest WORD "substitute" I've ever seen.jaclaz
anonymous_user Posted November 2, 2008 Posted November 2, 2008 "Optional components" are exactly that: optional. OOo Writer will work fine without them.
robotnik Posted November 5, 2008 Posted November 5, 2008 Try using a portable version of open office or using AbiWord. The portable version of AbiWord is between 9.8 and 17mb installed. AbiWord Link
