ChazZeromus Posted October 30, 2008 Posted October 30, 2008 (edited) After I did the appropriate nLite slipstreaming to install my SATA IDE drivers, I was able to successfully start and complete the installation of x64 version of Windows XP. After that I wanted to duel boot with the Vista that I already have on the same hard disk so I used the recovery CD to scan for other OS's and make a multi-entry startup boot process. But it was unable to detect XP Pro. So I fixed the MBR and loader to Vista and download VistaBootPro and tried to make XP Pro visible in the bootloader. But upon restarting my computer and selecting XP from the list of OS's to boot, I had an error saying something about the NTDLR file. What can I do to fix this?I keep getting this message in the Vista bootloader:0x00000f ntldr not foundI mean, it SHOULD have it. I checked using Vista to see if it's there and to my surprise it wasn't. Edited October 31, 2008 by ChazZeromus

ChazZeromus Posted October 31, 2008 Author Posted October 31, 2008 Sorry, I thought this didn't belong in any sub-forum because it involved both vista and xp.
ChazZeromus Posted October 31, 2008 Author Posted October 31, 2008 (edited) Alright I fixed it. If anyone has any trouble like me, when I did vista repair, it looked at my 64-bit XP as evil I guess and deleted the boot files NTLDR and NTDETECT.COM to make sure vista boots. Well once you have these files backed up, just put them in your XP root drive. Edited October 31, 2008 by fizban2 Removed Files, cannot redistribute OS files

ChazZeromus Posted October 31, 2008 Author Posted October 31, 2008 (edited) Whoops, I'll remove them. So anybody that needs them can google them.Hey you know what was wierd? Upon completion of the OS installation, the files never existed. hmm, the loader must have been integrated somewhere with a sector, maybe the location of the boot code for that specific partition. So yeah, this works too for duel booting.
