webking12 Posted October 25, 2008 Share Posted October 25, 2008 hello,everytime i turn the computer on, i get this message:sometimes it pops up in the user selection screen (that happens if i dont choose a user in a few seconds), and if i choose the user quickly enough, it pops up while my other programs load (at startup).i tried to change the programs that i have on startup, didn't help.i have winXP sp2quite annoying problem, i'd appreciate any help Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

cluberti Posted November 18, 2008 Share Posted November 18, 2008 True - svchost.exe is just a generic host process that can run almost any binary as a service if it's written to do so. That's why these are almost always malware/viruses - great place for non-Microsoft code to hide, inside a Microsoft binary and running all the time as a service.
