chromatic47 Posted October 11, 2008 Posted October 11, 2008 (edited) Now that the 82.69 driver is installed, and working fine on DVI widescreen (FX 5200 card), the inability to restart Windows from DOS bugs me. I can live with it for the widescreen capability, but I hate to see Windows 98 disabled even a little. Has anybody using the 81.+ drivers found a fix or patch for this yet, other than the command.com shortcut workaround? Edited October 11, 2008 by chromatic47
dencorso Posted October 14, 2008 Posted October 14, 2008 No. No one has. That's why I gave up using it.The last driver that works flawlessy is the 29.42, in my experience, but, perhaps, YMMV.
RetroOS Posted October 14, 2008 Posted October 14, 2008 29.42?No good if one has a more recent card like a series 5 or higher...
chromatic47 Posted October 14, 2008 Author Posted October 14, 2008 Well ... nutz. Guess I'll have to consider it penance for viewing enjoyment. Widescreen analog I could coax out of the 56.64 drivers by adding a 1680x1050 key to the registry display modes, but that trick won't work with DVI. (Actually I forced analog widescreen out of the 29.42 driver too, with the same hack, but that was on a TNT2 card.)Anyhow thanks for the bad news ..
