Is there a list of the "services" and an explanation of what they are for? I could reduce the size of my installation quite considerably.

try reading vp's site, he always has a run down of whats what,, but use your best judgment on what you need and dont need,, just use what he has as suggestions,,

well that looks good an all but keep in mind it dosnt show the changes for sp3,, so unless your only going to use sp2 then its not really all that helpful

hmmmm very interesting,, sorry to point this out but it dosnt seem like youve noticed/read the second post in this thread,, all youve done,, is link to the very same site,,,

I 've just posted about the most necessary services here. You might find it useful.

I read throug vipers services setting at the "bare bone level" for xp 64 , it still left 9 services to be disabled.

Not impressed.

Aren't there enough guides out there? I just meant that it didnt look like "bare bones" as it was called.

I would have least changed security accounts manager and workstation from automatic, also network connections service isnt really needed for anything but configuring tcp ip, and one can do that without the service itself. At least 5 of those 9 can be disabled/deleted.
