Peter Wilson Posted September 14, 2001 Posted September 14, 2001 I am using Windows XP and Mainboard: Microstar MSI K7T Pro MS-6330, BIOS ver. 2.9 from 08.03.2001 Im having this error everytime I boot up in the system events log even though I think that all my BIOS Power Management settings is fine. ACPI BIOS currently cannot support Windows XP? VIA KT133 chipset bugs in the ACPI implementation? Can anyone tell me how to figure out this problem? Event Type: Error Event Source: ACPI Event Category: None Event ID: 4 Date: 2001-09-03 Time: 1:55PM User: N/A Computer: LAKI-Z1CY875KD Description: AMLI: ACPI BIOS is attempting to read from an illegal IO port address (0xcfc), which lies in the 0xcf8 - 0xcff protected address range. This could lead to system instability. Please contact your system vendor for technical assistance. belivakov Posted August 23, 2008 Posted August 23, 2008 Try to update BIOS with newest version from MSI website
GrofLuigi Posted August 23, 2008 Posted August 23, 2008 (edited) I've seen this error quite often on old motherboards. It's nothing to worry about (XP has alredy blocked BIOS's access to potentialy dangerous ports, and these EventLog entries are only a record - notification of what has been done. And quite often there is no BIOS update for these old boards.GL*Edit: add more links: This and this. As I said, if you can't update your BIOS, there is nothing else you can do, but don't worry, everything is working OK.* Second edit: wow I got pwned Edited August 27, 2008 by GrofLuigi
