July 24, 200818 yr After installation Via rhine III ethernet on 98se2me from time to time at start-upsystem detect new device(network adapter). Please ,how can I escape from this situation ? Thanks !
July 24, 200818 yr Make sure it's properly plugged into the PCI slot. If it's an onboard it might be defective.
July 24, 200818 yr Author It is properly plugged into PCI slot. It hapend at start-up let say one a week.I answer "Cancel" to escape a new installation ,and Restart to obtain a good network function. Any idea ? Thanks!
July 24, 200818 yr Can you give the full specs of the machine you have this happening on? The solution i'm thinking of depends on what resources your BIOS assigns to the card.
July 25, 200818 yr Does this new device have a valid PCI ID? You can find out by running PCI32 from here.If it does, install the driver. If it doesn't, click Next until it fails to install. It will appear in Device Manager as an unknown device. Edited July 25, 200818 yr by Marius '95
July 25, 200818 yr Author Thank you for"PCI 32" program test.Indeed it shows :Subsystem ID 01061106:UnknownSystem vendor1106h:VIA Techn. Inc After driver reinstalling PCI 32 shows the same.
July 27, 200818 yr PCI ID consists of Vendor ID and Product ID (and some other, less important, IDs).They are shown on the first 2 lines for each PCI device, like this:Vendor 1011h Digital Equipment Corp (DEC)Device 0009h DecChip 21140 Fast Ethernet AdapterCommand 0005h (I/O Access, BusMaster)Status 0280h (Supports Back-To-Back Trans., Medium Timing)......If you installed the driver for that unknown device, did that fix your problem?
