B617BOSTON Posted July 6, 2008 Posted July 6, 2008 I never used nLite or vLite before. I don't really even know how to use these forums well so forgive me if I posted in the wrong place. My Desktop PC recently got messed up and I need to reinstall XP Pro. (Please note my versions are legal). I would like to Slipstream my drivers. However, the desktop is broken. I'm using Vista on a laptop to make the CD/DVD. So do I pick nLite or vLite? Are they made for the Os I'm running the program on, or made for the OS disk I'm creating. I'll be using Vista on a Acer Laptop to slipstream my drivers into XP Pro for a HP desktop.
FuttBuck Posted July 6, 2008 Posted July 6, 2008 You need to choose based on what installation you are creating
F44 Control Posted July 6, 2008 Posted July 6, 2008 I'm pretty sure that vLite is for slipstreaming VISTA dvds.nLite can be run on Vista, and it's designed to slipstream Windows 2000, XP, and 2003.
toja92 Posted July 6, 2008 Posted July 6, 2008 Then I would choose nLite. vLite only works with Vista files, while nLite only works with 2000 / 2003 / XP files. While you are on it, slipstream SP3 into XP before burning the cd, and you don't have to update that much then, assuming you have a fast connection.
