Blackwar Posted February 14, 2002 Posted February 14, 2002 Hey,I am using Asus pc probe which basically checks ur CPU temp and stuff along with other stuff.. and i get these warnings every time and i have no idea what they are...check this screenie : [img:e494c77222]http://blackwar1.netfirms.com/app1.JPG[/img:e494c77222]All opinions/suggestions apprecaitedthanksBLACKWAR
XPerties Posted February 14, 2002 Posted February 14, 2002 Value is what they run at, and threshold is what they should run at. So in "Lamens terms" there running below standard to what the default settins are in PC Probe. For example when i run Motherboard Monitor I have certian OC settings i run in my bios. Such as the Voltage supplied to my CPU thus makes MBM give me a alert. I turn it off. Just make sure your temps or ok.That 40c....is that a INTEL? If so think about getting a better heatsink, way to hot if you ask me for a idle machine. I freak if mine gets over 29-30c on full load 35-36c-XPertiesedited: I just saw your system specs...missed that. Im going to assume your using the default heatsink that came with the INTEL considering the RPM on the CPU fan are below 3000. I run mine at 7300-7400 rpm.
Conan Posted February 14, 2002 Posted February 14, 2002 How do you increase the fan RPM, or do you need a new fan that runs at that speed?
XPerties Posted February 14, 2002 Posted February 14, 2002 You need a new heatsink fan which will run fast, blow more air and cool that baby down. I personal love DELTA fans, but some say there to loud.-XPerties
Reverend Posted February 14, 2002 Posted February 14, 2002 I can recommend Taisol heatsinks and fans.http://www.taisol.com/coolers.htmlIf you get a heatsink that has thermal compound already stuck on wipe that cheap s*** off with an alcohol based cleaner, and replace with something like Arctic silver. If you've got room in the case,a couple of 80mm case fans will also help with the cooling. One in the front pulling cold air in,and one in the back blowing out. Sunon,Evercool or Delta do a good range of fans,Although as XPerties mentioned some people find the Delta's a bit loud.
XPerties Posted February 14, 2002 Posted February 14, 2002 actually from experiance alcohol based cleaner isnt good. Theres a product called "Go Gone" , use that. You can pick it up at any grocery store or house hold store. Make sure you buff the bottum of the heatsink for 10-15 min. Check artic silvers website for the instructions. Make sure you follow them closely.-Xperties
BAH Posted February 14, 2002 Posted February 14, 2002 I wouldnt use the asus probe its crap.....Use this one it comes from the asus user's forum and its much better..http://mbm.livewiredev.com/
Blackwar Posted February 14, 2002 Author Posted February 14, 2002 [b:c1dcd687d5]Xperties[/b:c1dcd687d5]This is a HP computerf so i dont exactly know what parts are in it, but when i opened it up, it looked like a pretty quality fan to me... Also i think there is something wrong with the readings or there is no sensor on my mobo cuz my comp was shut overnight and it was still at 40 C.. So im assuming all values shown there are not valid... [b:c1dcd687d5]Reverend[/b:c1dcd687d5]Thanks man, Ill look in to that I don't have so much experience with taking out the fan and stuff but all others i can do easily.. the heatsink is somehow like stuck to the processor.. I tried to get it out and left it alone so i dont break it.. heh [b:c1dcd687d5]BAH[/b:c1dcd687d5]Yeah, I tried MBM 5 .. It doesn't give me the correct readings either.. I think HP gave me a crappy Asus mobo that doesn't have the sensors built in.. this sux a** :cry I just got the asus utility cuz i figured it would work cuz its an asus mobo.. but i guess not, If someone can recommend some other programs that may be able to read some stuff, i would appreciate it.. so far i have tried MBM, Hmonitor and Asus pc probe.. None have worked for me.. ThanksBLACKWAR
zErO Posted February 15, 2002 Posted February 15, 2002 Ive decided to use the warning/shutdown feature of my mobo and im trying to work out what temps I should set it for[b:62be77cc21]BLACKWAR[/b:62be77cc21] - those fan speeds are truly pathetic, go get a good heatsink before u end up cooking something!!![b:62be77cc21]BAH[/b:62be77cc21] - checked out ur link to see what Max Die Temperature would be for my cpu's, so could config my mobo for warnings ( my XP 1800 run at about 95 degrees farenheit) and my ( P4 1.8 at about 89 degrees farenheit)checked my board and cpu temps from cmos as well as sissoft sandranow the AMD site says that the max die temps for the XP cpu is 190 degrees farenheit and the P4 at about 160so what is the best temp to set warnings at, I was going to set mine from about 120f

I tell ya, my mobo doesnt have those sensor s***s... So not to worry. Thanks,BLACKWAR

Unless you get a better quilty fan then those are the right speeds. And i havent a clue what sensors your refering to but your motherboard is no difference from any other motherboard, it does track the speed of your fans. Basically its a store bought computer and there all made to run at low standards thus making it quite. It does the job but the ASUS prob program your using is set on defaults to have the threshold of the boarderline cooling temps, voltage, and fan speeds.-XPerties

XPerties Posted February 15, 2002 Posted February 15, 2002 well do this my friend....go into your bios and look for the temps and fan speed in there. write them down and let me know. I could be wrong but Im preety sure im not .........they have to have some kind of sensor that tells you so check your bios out-XPerties

Its the crappy hp stuff so im guessing thats why they dont have temp s***...BLACKWAR
