Hyperterm and Remote Desktop dependencies

Hi,

Thanks to the nLite team for a great product. I've searched the forums and Google for my problem to no avail.

Using nLite 1.4.1, I slipstreamed SP3 into WIndows XP Pro (already with SP2) and then proceeded to apply tweaks, component removal, etc. I now find myself without Hyperterminal, nor Remote Desktop in the Accessories->Communications Folder in the Start menu. I've attached my Last Session.ini, thanks in advance to anyone who can help:

If there's anything else I can provide to help, let me know.

Thanks again.

According to your ini, hyper terminal shouldn't be removed. I think it's the "Communication tools" component in ;# Network #.

(Check in program files\windows nt for the exe.)

Same for Remote Assistance - it shouldn't be removed.

Maybe your source is somehow flawed? Also, try the latest version of nLite (there are always bugs fixed).

Hi GL,

Thanks for your response. The Program Files/WinNT directory only contains an executable for the dialer.exe - which is also part of the Communications Group if I am not mistaken. This led me to believe that I unknowingly removed a Hyperterminal dependency. I will try the newest version of nLite but it'll have to wait until later in the week. The original source contains the compressed versions of the hypertrm.* files so they were definitely removed by nLite during the process.

There's no 'dependency' on hyper terminal afaik. Also there are much better alternatives, it's a very old program, not needed for windows to work itself.

Remote desktop dependencies i find interesting, if it could be properly removed, while still keeping terminal services- service, in windows xp, would be sweet.

I generated a new unattended install CD using nLite 1.4.6 and the problem has disappeared. Both Hyperterminal and Rmote Desktop option appear in the Start Menu.
