It was easier when I made a lite version of XP SP2 and one RyanVM update pack... 188MB! DHCP didn't work until I edited the useless dependencies.

I must admit nlite is well built and easy to use and awesome.

Finding the correct stuff is not.

Now I want to make a SP3 CD with,

Dot Net

Windows Installer

DirectX 9

Lots of other programs (I found the link here to a site full of them - very handy!)

Windows Media Player (Whatever the latest is)

Inters*** Explorer 7

Scripts for Applications That Use Them C++

Anything that can be upgraded and was not upgraded with SP3

I think there is an enchanted version of the calculator somewhere... that stuff also.

I am not going to integrate any drivers though.

My final goal is to create an up to date windows full of already ready to go components and without windows phone home stuff and newb stuff and annoying features like the search helper thing. This is definatly shall not be anywhere near 188 MB, might be a DVD worthy ISO I hope.

Now this is proving difficult.

To evaluate, there seems to be WMP11 although how to get it on a CD I don't get at all. WMP10 I got a DL for, although hell if I know if this is latest version of WMP10. D:

My Question would be - where should I get all of these things? I mean, there seems to be lots of versions and lots of patches and lots of instructions and I am very confused indeed to which is the best choice.

I got close to gettin .NET but the link was broken and it was just version 2.0, I think there is a later one. I have found a few useful things that need dot net framework. The site I visited was RyanVM's site - it is rather... brain hurt...

I also found a 9MB DX9 thing, but I doubt it was DX9. I... am too sleepy (or stupid) to understand wtf it is.

I have that rather annoying activation necessary version of XPHESP2, can SP3 even be installed nonetheless? And by interating SP3 - i just need to point nlite to it? (I have an activated version here now typing on which, can I somehow merge the two to have already activated instal?)

I have yet to read how to add registry tweaks to the installation... there are some good windows phone home things to disable within registry / speed up components.

I also want to this for XP64bit... later.

Pfffffff, just slipstream SP3 into the RTM version of XP, put in the IE7 and WMP11 addons, DirectX_xx.dll files, then remove a load of stuff and it can be kept under 250Mb easy. yes still with SP3, Windows Update, IE7, WMP11.

You do know what you're doing, otherwise you wouldn't have come here and posted.

I mean, where do I get WMP11 and DX9 file? Or how do I get it on there otherwise?

Also, if I want include other items on the CD/DVD -> Do I just copy them into a folder and nlite will write them to the disk along?

I am not trying to make a slim installation but a complete customized install. Lots of Software. Latest XP. DotNet, C++, Java, Flash, DX, WMP, IE7, WMM, video codecs...

Ok I finnally figured out how to get WMP11 (I think) on there and I got a bunch of other software and stuff. Does doing this null all the tweaks later put into the registry for WMP?

I attempted to make the install hustle free - no CD key entering etc. I also disabled space requirement check. Can it still be installed on a Formatted HD?

Edit: Also does SP3 already have DX9c?
