Files listed in [RemoveFiles] are not being removed

I added a ton of NLS files to the [RemoveFiles] section in my nLite "Last Session.ini"

I know its safe to remove these NLS files, my system right now is working without most of them, I keep only certain ones, which are all kept under [KeepFiles] so its working, but I am left with those dozens of NLS files despite telling nLite not to check dependencies etc and all the files are indeed listed, also they are all cabbed files so should work...

All those are kept on the ISO for some reason!

Theres a load of XLS files the same, nLite keeps them even though they are listed for removal.

Please don't tell me I have to manually edit TXTSETUP.SIF again, nLite RUINS that if you put a semi-colon next to a filename, then use nlite, all your commented out files are gone and theres no way then to know where its up to.

Can you post your Last Session.ini on Rapidshare/Mediafire or attach it?

Heres something else I noticed:

I have to have 2 Last Session files, one removes components, then one removes files. If its all done in one go it leaves certain things in like Printer Drivers.

Maybe I have conflicts between whats in KeepFiles and RemoveFiles?

I wonder why nLite would not remove all those NLS and XLS files.

They are all cabbed files that end up in system32, which are fine to remove according to nlite.

It is XP SP3 - maybe its just an SP3 thing?

If i goto registry and search for codepage, i will found lots of empty registry keys. Now its either higher or lower of codepages under currentcontrolset, cant remember atm, but its there. By there, i mean a folder which contains the codepages name and what language its for. So following logic would then be to delete all codepages that are not used by the language of windows itself, and whatever language you prefer yourself. Nlite has a warning about deleting such keyboard entries will affect office updates, i cant verify that however as office updates have worked here.

Not really sure if this is the same thing, but thought i'd mention it anyway.

1 - I already know exactly what NLS files I need and what I don't need.

2 - Its not just the 106 NLS files, Windows installs fine, I just end up with a bunch of files left in system32, left on the ISO in fact. These files are 106 NLS files and about 30 other files. Theres no reason why nLite should keep them. I can comment out all these files in TXTSETUP.SIF and Windows installs fine, believe me I know for certain these files do not have to be on the ISO, Windows is all working without these files, services are all working, not one single error, so I know these files can be removed.

Only Nuhi can answer this one IMO.

Bear in mind I am using SP3 here.

Things to know:

1 - There are no duplicate files listed in either section. This was causing netshell.dll errors on installation but I know that now and have removed all duplicate entries which then stopped the netshell.dll error and setup could complete.

2 - Likewise, there are no duplicate entries in the 2 sections when compared with each other. So it is not trying to "keep a file and remove it" at the same time, the lists have been checked for this with ExamDiff Pro - not by hand, they have been properly checked.

If you find 1 or 2 to not be true above then I will show my a** in the street!

Look at the KeepFiles list - see how it has 14 NLS files I want to keep.

Look at the RemoveFiles list - see how it has 106 NLS files I want to remove.

Added together, you have all 120 NLS files in Windows.

Why is nLite not removing the 106 listed in the RemoveFiles section?

None of the names clash or anything.

Please don't ask for my "last Session.ini" file because I have done this in 2 stages, the first where nLite removes all the components. That installation works perfectly.

Then the second stage with just those removefiles and keepfiles.

Those removefiles and keepfiles are what is left to remove after the normal component removal.

Yes that list is of cabbed files (*.*_) because I just compared the ISO's I386 files.

All the above files in the last codebox are left on the ISO and should be removed!

Check the lists if you don't believe me.

Its actually not that hard for me to test all this with an SP2 disc, hold on....

EDIT: Nope, exactly the same thing happens on SP2 as SP3 - there are 120 NLS files still left in my I386 folder and I only want to keep 14 of those NLS files.

I can only assume the other files are not being removed, some only exist in SP3 etc.
