does any body know the files i need to modify for changing the text/colors in the textmode setup? the ugly blue one that says pick a partition, copying files, etc?

You need to edit the SMSS.exe in system32 folder inside the i386 folder of your setup cd using PE Explorer.

Edit "setupldr.bin" in hexeditor.
